Short film - 'The Cool Club'

60 word synopsis:

After being electrocuted, computer coder Dylan encounters a strange Psychedelic woman who gives him a card from her golden box. It reads 'Cool Club' and nothing else. On his journey Dylan encounters characters based on Greek Mythology and learns more about the mysterious club.

Long Synopsis (Warning spoilers!)

On returning home Dylan ignores his girlfriend and stays fixated on the mystery of the Cool Club. He leaves the flat to pursue the club. Pandora (the psychedelic women) tells Dylan to follow the yellow cards, only telling him they play psy-trance.

After meeting two strangers along the way (Neville and Echo). Dylan convinces them to come with him.
They find the owner of The Cool Club (Denis) asleep in his chair surrounded by empty wine glasses. Dylan wakes Denis who then bursts into a speech about wine. Dylan stands baffled – he was expecting Psy-trance. Denis gives Dylan the last glass of wine and tells him to “go through at door”.

Director and Writer - Charles Willmott

I originally started filming at the age of 11 making stop-motion shorts with a webcam. I quickly gained a self taught knowledge of Adobe Premiere, After Effects and Photoshop. Allowing me to expand as a filmmaker.

I made my first 10 minute (stop-motion) film with my younger brother (George) at the age of 16. It took us 2 years and involved heavy CGI use.

Although directing is completely new to me, I have started reading directing books such as Directing Actors & On Film-making. To test my skill as a director I wanted to write something with an array of characters and locations. I had been writing The Cool Club for two years and knew now was the time to make it.

Producer - Jordan Noon

Having previously produced several full-length theatrical plays, mostly by the renowned playwright Harold Pinter and holding extensive experience as a theatre actor. The opportunity to diversify and turn my attention to the achievable prospect of producing a short film with an abundance of characters and variety of locations seemed highly desirable

Festival Submission Intentions

The notion of submitting a film to festivals with the intention of gathering exposure and potentially obtaining funding for future projects is an important aspect of filmmaking and as such an array of research has been conducted to ensure the chosen festival submissions are the correct ones for this particular film, alongside also being the most financial advantageous decision.

Our chosen festival submissions will also be within the United Kingdom and within a reasonable distance to London, in doing this we ensure we are financially able to attend the festival if the film progresses further, alongside providing scope to network with various industry individual within their chosen field whom we may realistically work with in the near future.

For this reason we will be submitting our film to two separate festivals located within ‘Ealing International Film Festivals’ and the ‘London Independent Film Festival’. Alongside another well renowned festival within the city of Manchester being ‘Kinofilm’, with all of the above being in a viable and resourceful networking  distance.
